To qualify for Gift Aid, what you pay in income tax or capital gains must be at least equal to the amount of tax reclaimed on donations to all registered charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs in the tax year. Other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify.

For example on an amount given in a tax year totalling £100, you must have paid HMRC at least £25 in tax in that same year for us to be able to make a claim.
